Pinned it Friday With Rachel

Another week has come and gone and it seems like most kids have started school by now. Congrats to you all for surviving another summer! Here is the weekly wrap up, followed by the best pins around!

I couldn't make the picture upload! :(

So, now for the pins, first up- Don't these look good? I have a lot of potatoes right now, and I decided that I needed some new things to make with them. So go check out Natasha's Kitchen and show her some love!
       Potato Wedges

Next stop is some awesome fabric storage. I'm moving into a new place this weekend and I will be creating a new sewing space for myself. It's sad leaving my old one, but exciting to know that I get to figure out a new one in a new space! This storage is by Lee at Freshly Pieced. I'm just in love with the color order and the amount of fabric goodies!
Okay, I'm  not a super messy person, but when I get going on a sewing project, I seem to neglect other things around the house a bit. This is an awesome list of ten things to do so that you get into the habit and will have a cleaner home!
Okay, these were TOO GOOD to pass up, plus I really want to try and make something felt soon! Harry Potter and Ron Weasley would be my favorite felty things to make I think :) These are in the Happy Akindo Etsy shop, you could even buy them!
Last, there is the Lone Starburst finished quilt by Hyacinth Quilt Designs. Oh how I love this block, I've only made four of them and they take a while because they are paper pieced. Look how gorgeous though! This is motivation to maybe make a whole quilt! I love the colors she used too! Go check out her blog, I follow it and always read the updates excitedly. This one made my day :)

That's all for this week everyone, hope you have a fun and safe weekend!!

Pinned it Friday with Rachel

Hello everyone! It's Friday and that means I get to show you what Haley and I did this week, as well as a few of my favorite pins!

Monday- A few of my WIPs!

Tuesday- Haley's lovely new backyard and some crochet

Wednesday- A few of my favorite quilt blogs and sites

Now time for the pins!

This first pin is such a good idea! I love having leftover meat for sandwiches, but why not just make your own lunch meat? I know that the store bought kind has nitrates and too much sodium (and other things I'm sure), but it's simple. This is a way to bring back a little simplicity while eating well. Go check out the tutorial and see other ways that this Florida mom is going green.

Second is something that makes me so happy! Glass door knobs!! My granny in Tennessee has basement that is divided into three rooms. On one door, there is a glass knob and I remember being intrigued with it as a little girl. It really is the attention to detail that make a house lovely. The blog Inspiring Pretty shared this photo from a set of ideas to redo a bathroom. Go look around the blog, it is by two sisters and a sister-in-law. That's kinda cool to me because I do this blog with my cousin/sister-in-law too!

Third, there are these gorgeous vintage refrigerators! I can't help it, am I a total loser for loving these? Oh well, so be it.
I love the minty one and the pink one, and I think I should make it my life's goal to have one! Go read this post and see that I'm not the only one who loves the Smeg! Look around while you are there, it's a photo blog and there are great pictures everywhere!

Fourth, I have no idea where this came from, but I had to share the picture because I'm still wanting a tufted headboard. I don't know if it will happen, but if it does, I like this one.

Last pin for the week is the bomb! I have been doing TERRIBLE about reading my scriptures lately, and I really need to do better. I think that it would help me get more out of it too, if I took cute notes and made mention of things that stood out to me. This would probably also be good for those poor folks still having to suffer through some type of school. Ick. So glad that part of my life is over. Anyway, this blog (One of a Kind) has all kinds of scripture study helps and templates, go check it out!

Okay, so that's it for us this week, next week we shall be back with some new projects! Hopefully I can fit in some time to pack some boxes so my husband doesn't come into my sewing room and murder me for putting it off so long! Haha, enjoy your weekend!

Weekly Wrap & Pinned it Friday- Rachel

This week has been full of catching up from my Tennessee trip! I think that will continue into next week too! My husband's birthday is this month, and tomorrow we are going to San Diego to see the Yankees play. It's like my nightmare, but his dream, so at least one of us will be happy (and it is his birthday after all). So here is the weekly wrap and Pinned it Friday for you all! Enjoy and have a fun weekend!

On Monday I posted about Ethan's Dresser and Tennessee.

On Tuesday, Haley posted an update about how her back yard is progressing. It will be so fun to have that all finished so the kids can play out there!

Wednesday was a day with a cedar chest full of quilts that I got to browse through on my trip.

Thurday was Haley with a quilt that she made for Wenday, the designer of our blog, and Haley's good friend. Here is the quilt!

Now it's Friday, so here is the weekly haul from Pinterest!
Riley Blake always has cute fabric and patterns, and I saw this little cutie while I was browsing. Check out how to make it on the design blog! Check it out HERE for part one and HERE for part two.

Next up is the cutest kids room decor ever! I love the vintage windows used, as well as the bunting! Look at the emboridery hoops and the pillows too. Forget a kids room, I want it in my room. This is from the blog "the boo and the boy" you can find it here. Be sure to check out all the awesome room ideas that she has posted!

This post is about the top ten tips for packing luggage. I only saw this after I cam home from Tennessee with quite a lot of lotion NOT in it's bottle, but outside. My shaving cream too. That stuff is like gold to me too, so here is a link if you want to use the best shaving cream ever. Haley led to to try it and I'm just saying, you might as well go ahead and buy in bulk. Needless to say, I don't like my products leaking in my bad all over my lovely stack of fresh undies. Who would?! Try this awesome tip and stop wasting gallon bags. With this one, you won't lose product! The tip was from Select Study abroad and can be found here with others!

I love this door. I mean, just look at it! It is  #12 on this page. I love fancy doors, they can totally make a room look better and more classy. This one reminds me of a door in the movie Cinderella. I need this one in my dream home one day. This can be the back door and I want a circular hobbit door in the front. Seems legit, right? See more cool doors.

Lastly, I want to share this lovely reclaimed wood sign. My husband and I were married in the Mesa temple, not the Salt Lake, but I love this all the same. I think I may eventually make one of these with the San Diego temple because we go there a lot. And I'm so glad that I get to be with my best friend to infinity and beyond! Check out the Boone Creek Loft Etsy shop here.

That's it, hope your weekend is happier than the Yankees baseball game is going to be!

Weekly Wrap and Pinned it Friday by Rachel

Hello everyone! It's Friday so I get to show you our weekly wrap up and the best pins of the week! I'm enjoying my trip to Tennessee and i hope you have all been having fun too! Here is what we did this week:
Patriotic Wall Quilt

Favorites By Haley

Now for the pins!
I love this star by Rita at Red Pepper Quilts! She always has amazing things going on over there and is one of my favorite quilty bloggers! Go see her work and check our her Etsy shop, she is really amazing!

Next, we have this awesome car kit that would be handy whenever you really need a kleenex but don't want to carry around those and everything else in your purse. If you keep them in your car, you'll always have them when you need! What a handy idea! Go see it and many other ideas at Pink Polka Dot Creations. There are so many ideas, crafts, and tutorials!

This idea is such a classy way to hide your ugly router or cable box! When I move, there may be one of these in my near future. Sewing Barefoot is the blog, click the link to find other DIY, sewing, and recipes!

Dwellings by Devore is a blog that has been mentioned here several times in our blog. She always makes things and places beautifyl, you MUST go take a look around there! This is just another example of the lovelyness that happens over there. I'm a sucker for a good monogram too...

Lastly, we have just an image that I can't find where I should link it back to! It really is too pretty not to share, check out that nail head upholstry job! Don't you just love how light and airy this room is?! I know I do. Here it is, the last pin of the week.
See you next week!

Pinned it Friday, Rachel Edition

We had some fun posts this week, so here they are just in case you missed them!

Afghan Update & Milk Paint vs Chalk Paint

Quilting Tutorial Part 2

Here are my favorite pins from the week! Hope you all enjoy!

1.) My living room doesn't have room for more than one couch plus a rocking chair. Sometimes I just like to lay on the floor anyway. Basically, I think that making one or two of these super cute floor pillows may be exactly what I need in my life! I would love to have a squashy stack of these in the corner :) Go check them out on the blog, it has been translated to English, woot, woot!

2.) I don't know about you, but I definitely have this problem with a few pairs of my pants. They fit through the rear, but the waist is too big. Why?! Obviously I'm not the only one. Here is a simple way to help fix that gap (because no one wants to see your (or my) crack. It's just not ladylike. Or gentleman like, if you prefer.  This is from the I Am Momma Hear Me Roar blog, where Cheri gives awesome sewing, home decor, holiday, and kid stuff tutorials. Her blog is on summer break because she wanted to spend time with her cute kids, go see all the cool stuff there and read about her (she is a pretty cool lady)!

3.) You will never convince me that there is a little boy out there who doesn't like to dress up. I worked with kids for seven years straight, mainly two-year-olds, and every single one of those boys would dress up when they had the chance. I particularly remember a set of twin boys that loved the plastic Cinderella shoes. Their mother was not happy when she came in and found her little boys in their cute Nike outfits and pink heels. I am a fan of letting them dress up how they like for fun, they are just exploring the world around them :) So, here is a SUPER cute gift for a boy you know, or maybe a girl you know, either way, I NEED to make these sometime because I just love how they look! Also, I would like to give more handmade gifts, and these will be unique! This is a cool blog called mmmcrafts, and I know which project I've got my eye on next!

Disguise Kit

4.) Chevrons are all the rage still, and good news for quilters, they are some of the easiest patterns to do! There are so many variations out there, but I've always been partial to a rainbow look. Isn't this baby quilt by Chez Roo gorgeous?! I even love the gray background. Now I'm wanting to brave my scrap pile and see if I can make one too! Go check out Yzo's blog and see all the awesomeness she brings to the table!
Rainbow Chevron Quilt

5.) Okay, confession time! I love lip scrubs and always have. I love gritty facewash, pumice stones, exfoliating body wash, and all of those types of things. I always feel cleaner when I've scrubbed off at least two layers of skin. That's probably a condition isn't it? Hmm. Well, anyway, I took the drug Accutane for five or six months in 2010-11. It was not fun, and I feel like it permanently damaged my lips ability to stay hydrated (or something). I now feel like my lips are constantly chapped and peeling. I love medicated Blistex, it seems to help, but I also went back to my old lip scrubs! Here is a cool DIY one that is natural and easy (not to mention effective)! Sugar and olive oil baby. This is from the Girl With Curves, Tanesha. She has a great blog that promotes positve self image and gives lots of beauty tips, plus outfit inspiration.
DIY Lip Scrub

That's it for this Friday, hope you enjoyed! As always, I'm happy to hear any feedback and would love to know what you'd like to read more of!

In all fairness I wrote all of the entries down in order, and asked my 17 year old brother to pick a number. He lives in Washington and probably has  no idea that I have a blog, let alone that I was doing a give away! So thank you Brady for helping pick our winner!

There were lots of entries so thank you everyone who entered!! I am still available for hire to makeover your projects and most of my rates are under $100. Affordable for many budgets!! So please if you wanted to win and you did not, you can still hire me to paint your pieces!! Thanks again everyone for your support! 2.
I guess I am feeling hungry this morning because I have another awesome food pin! Mel's Kitchen Café has been one of my go to blogs for recipes for the last couple of years! I have tried countless recipes, many of which are consistently rotated on my menu each week. I don't think I have ever been disappointed by a single thing I have tried!! I was so excited to see this new post she has started all about quick meals! As I have mentioned before I HATE cooking and I always procrastinate until the last minuet to start working on dinner, So having a collection of 30 minuet meals all compiled onto one page of delicious goodness? Really? What more could a girl like me ask for?!

3.
Since I have been on a major crochet kick and have started to crochet baby blankets as gifts instead of making quilts, I have been on the look out for some lovely inspiration!! I saw this picture on Pinterest and my jaw literally dropped it is so beautiful! One of the best parts about pinned it Friday is that we get to explore the sources behind these pretty pictures that you see on Pinterest and actually see who is the creator behind all of the greatness! This picture took me to the blog Blancouleur. I am dying to get back to scrolling through its pages this lady is amazing!! her color choices are to die for and she is one amazing crocheter!! Go look at all the crochet eye candy on her blog!! If you are curious about how to create a blanket that is similar to this picture the stitch is called Larks foot, and there several tutorials on YouTube that will help you learn how!

4.
My Sweet Savannah, is just one of those blogs that I die for. Melanie is the lovely gal behind it all. When ever I am about to start a new project, I have a handful of blogs that I go to for inspiration, My Sweet Savannah is always at the top of the list! Thank you KariAnne over at Thistlewood Farms for getting me hooked!! I knew you would never lead me astray! I have some plans to try and make over some boring frames in my living room inspired by Melanie. Go check out her drool worthy frames! and the beautiful hutch in her bathroom. I also love what she has done with this buffet, and how she has added the shelves above it to store all of her lovely treasures! I am hoping to figure out some sort of china cabinet/buffet shelf thing in my dinning area to display all of my ironstone and this picture opens up a whole new window of possibilities! Melanie you rock!

5.

OK lets all just take a moment and devour this beautiful treasure!! This is another one of those blogs that I LOVE!! Thanks to my sister in law Cassie for getting me hooked to this one a couple years ago! I always find my self  going back for more!! Grand Design is actually a local Arizona blogger who does so many incredible things with her home! She has several  awesome pallet projects including a bathroom wall treatment and a herringbone treatment! that are so cool! But this has to be my most favorite project she has yet to do! A Grain Sack inspired hutch makeover! I love the colors and the stripes in the back. Its just so pretty!! and all of her white goodies on display only make it that much better!! Go check out Grand Design and see her amazing house while you are there!

Ok ladies and Gents that wraps up an other round of Pinned it Friday!! Enjoy and if you feel so inclined, tell our featured pinners who sent you over to their site !

Pinned it Friday: Rachel Edition

This Friday thing is kinda fun, isn't it?! Here I am for another round of Pinned it Friday! I hope you guys like Pinterest as much as I do!

1.) I have a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils that I've been wanting to use for a while. I happened to catch my favorite on a 50% off sale! That's what I'm talking about! Here is a cool tutorial showing how to use stencils and some Martha Stewart paint! This come from the always fresh Tatertots and Jello, go check out the blog, there are all sorts of good things there to find!

2.) Next we have some pillowcases that were just way too cute to pass by! These are on the Spoonful of Sugar blog and honestly, can you resist this?! I love that the ends are all tucked in nicely and not out, flapping around. I have flappy pillowcases and now they annoy me, so I need to make some of these!

3.) This is great! I love to contour my face when it's in a good mood! Some days, it's just better not to be seen. Haha, anyway, this is a great look at what contouring and highlighting the correct areas of your face can do! Haley and I love makeup and she got me hooked on Sigma brushes! I now need to get a contour one. The flak kabuki is ah-mazing! Cara Brook for Allure.

4.) Fourth pin is some lovely vintage Pyrex! I have only just started to get a few random pieces, but I really like it! Jeni Baker at In Color Order was where I first started loving the VP (vintage pyrex). So here is a blog totally dedicated to it!

5.)  Lastly, this pin is to feed my current sign addiction! I want to recreate this a little differently soon and I already have the wood, so YES! Credit goes here, not to me.
Enjoy your long weekend people!
