Sign for Twins Room Reveal

Good Morning!!

I have to say this week has been a much better week than the last one!! My little boys haven't given me quite as much grief.. ok scratch that they have. I guess I'm just realizing that this new phase of destruction is here to stay and its just not worth getting my panties all up in a bundle every time they do something terrible.. I mean they do call it the Terrible Two's for a reason!! right?! I guess my experience is just EXTRA special since there is more than one and they use their little partnership to plot against me!

As Rachel and I both said; we had a lovely girls day on Monday!! I think it was exactly what I needed to get over a bad week and feel renewed and fresh!! We had such a great time! It was also the first time I have left Scarlett for a longer than an hour! I was really hesitant up until right before I left.  I wasn't sure if  I should take her or leave her but my husband assured me everything would be just fine and kicked me out the door! I'm glad he did, she was more than OK without me which makes me a little sad that she is growing so fast. However,  it was nice to have a little bit more freedom. Its kind of crazy to think that by the time my boys where her age now, I was already expecting again.. I don't know what the heck I was thinking but, I'm glad I didn't think about it too hard. By the time I realized perhaps throwing a third child into the mix with some crazy toddlers might not be the best idea, it was a little to late!! And I just cant imagine life without each of these crazy little people who have given me purpose in this world.

I have continued to crochet this week, in fact I have started a new routine, instead of being a grizzly mother every time my boys jump out of their bed during bed and nap time and putting them back into bed countless times. Now, I just sit in front of their door in a rocking chair and crochet until they fall asleep. It works so much better!!! and it's actually much more time effective!! It was taking me over and hour to try and get my boys to take a nap and now they know they cant get away with anything so they just lay down and fall asleep and I get to watch as they fall asleep and turn into perfect little angels and enjoy some quite crochet time. It works out just perfectly!!!
I am also still waiting for my Silhouette to arrive!! It is estimated to come today, I was sincerely hoping it would come earlier but no such luck!! If it doesn't come today, I'm going to start getting cranky!!! Luckily I have grand plans to hang out with one of my mommy friends who understands more than any one what life is like with twins. She has twin boys of her own that are a month older than Scarlett and a 2 year old son just a few months younger than my boys. I always enjoy our play dates!! and it is so funny to watch our six kids hang out together!

Today I am FINALLY showing you the sign I made for my boys room!! I had to wait to show you because the board needed to be trimmed to finish it off and my husbands saw was too wimpy to do the job! But alas here it is in all its glory! this picture is taken in my master bedroom on my dresser, it will however eventually go in my boys room as planned!

Have a very lovely and wonderful day!!

Master Bedroom Picture Wall

Last month Hobby Lobby opened in town. I have never been to Hobby Lobby but have always wanted to go. So, when I got an invited to go earlier this week with a good friend I wasn't about to turn down the offer! First of all I had no idea the amazing home décor selection that they had! I was literally in heaven. Up until this point my go to stores (besides thrift stores) for home décor are Home Goods and Ross. But Hobby Lobby takes it to a whole other level! And it didn't help that basically all the home décor was 50% off! I got some great things for the upstairs bathroom and the last little thing I needed to finish the picture wall in the master bedroom. I have been looking for some sort of metal piece to put above the photos. I had found something at Home Goods a couple weeks ago but it was $30 and I really didn't want to spend that. This one I like better and it was only $7.00! Amazing right?! It was originally black but I painted it white and distressed it a little. I thought it would help pull together the white and black in the room. The large picture frame with the gallery of pictures I ordered a couple years ago from the online Walgreens website. Its called a photo collage on the website. Its a really cool idea, you upload your photos and then pick as many as you want to be in the collage, then it automatically creates the collage for you. You can then shuffle it as many times as you want to get it just how you like. As you can see this collage houses some of our favorite wedding photos... oh to be that skinny again... Any who the two frames on the sides I showed you a couple weeks ago. They are shadow boxes of my twins' blessing outfits. I am really happy with how this wall turned out it is sentimental and a good final touch for the Master Bedroom. Enjoy!!

The Master Bedroom Makeover part 3

Here it is folks!! Shortly after I posted yesterday, my husband woke up early and I was able to take some decent pictures! As I said before I found this bed frame on Craigslist. This is my go to for pretty much anything furniture. This bad boy was listed for 200 and I was able to talk the seller down to 150. What a deal right?!! It is solid oak and had been taken really good care of not a ding or scratch! I'm sure any wood lover would have cringed to see me paint over this piece. But I'm so glad I did its absolutely the perfect piece for our master! I started by sanding the whole thing, then I painted it a flat grey called Richmond Grey. This grey is actually in the same color swatch as my wall color. After painting it I played around with a couple different finishes which is partly why it took longer than I had expected. I eventually settled with mixing the dark grey on the wall with lot of water and dry brushing it on. I love the weathered look this technique has created! After it was done or so I thought I hauled it upstairs I then realized I was going to have to polyurethane the dang thing! Originally I didn't want to do this because I wanted the paint to still look flat but it had to be done! So I got to do that little job in my room it was a little interesting... But it's finished! Now here are some before pictures, some during the process, and the finished product! I also hung all those plates on the wall. I had been collecting them for a while now. I found the center plate for $2 at a thrift store and the rest I have scooped up at target some on sale some were 3.99 not bad if you ask me! I've been loving all the plate displays all over blogs and Pinterest and am so glad I went for it! I bought regular picture hanging things( what the heck are those called again?!!) and hot glued them to the back and there you go! Also I should mention the pillows I made only cost 10 I bought a flat queen sheet from Walmart and used that as my fabric. The black Fabric I already had on hand! Enough rambling here you go enjoy!!

-Haley

I should mention the paint I used from older projects. The fabric from the pillows was also scraps in my stash and the plates I have been collecting for quite some time. Besides the bed everything I used I had right at home!

Master Bedroom Projects

I am happy to announce that the bed is officially complete unfortunately I have no pretty pictures to show you unless you want some with my adorable sleeping husband in it (he works nights so he keeps the bed occupied during the day) so as soon as I can get some good day time pictures I'm going to have to make you wait! However I have been working on some other details!

I have been wanting to find some sweet shadow boxes for quite some time, to display my children's blessing outfits . I searched all over the Internet for something and everything was over priced and not what I was looking for, which brings me to today!

I am a pretty big home body I am perfectly content to stay home and not go any where most of the time but every couple of weeks I just need to get OUT! Today was one of those days so I loaded up my children and off we went. I had some stuff I actually needed to do but as I was out I decided why not pay a visit to Home Goods! Despite the trip containing to many kids, not enough snacks, a couple fist fights, lots of crying and a lot of me saying no don't touch that...( I should mention Scarlett never made a peep) the trip was worth it, because I found these lovely shadow boxes for $12 a piece! I brought them home and in between three kids who wouldn't take a nap and 5 dipper changes...( I'm ready to stop spending half our grocery money on dippers!!) I was able to get the boys adorable little blessing outfits all pinned in! These will be going in my bedroom next to a big collage of wedding pictures! I also did a little display over my bed last night that I am obsessed with!! Devin.. He isn't so sure but hey I do what I want!!! Ok not really I prefer that he likes our home decor as much as I do. But, if he doesn't I just remind him that he is forcing me to live with his beast Django. End of story! Enjoy!

-Haley

Ps. Ignore my hand and my five year old purple nail polish.. I just couldn't help myself it was too cute!

And the last picture was also to irresistible not to post

Ok enough blabbering!!!!!!

Sneak peek

When I wrote my last post I had no intentions of buying a headboard or bed frame any time soon... But maybe I lied.

I have been swooning over four poster beds by the lovely Thistlewood farm and Holly Mathis (pictures below). So, when I came across one that was exactly what I needed and in mint condition... Well I just couldn't resist. So here is a sneak peak of its makeover.
