Beatrice the Blue Armoire

Good Morning! Everyone! I have had a little bit of a
late start this morning, I've been hanging out snuggling my three little beasts and watching Harry Potter. It has been a rainy morning which I love and I just had to sit and enjoy it for a while! I have a new furniture makeover to share today using a milk paint color I have yet to try. It is the color French Enamel. This armoire I bought with my first set of furniture with the intention of selling. Rachel came to visit a few weeks ago and had her eye on this piece as a place to store all of her lovely fabric and sewing notions. It has great storage and such beautiful details. When I told her my plans to paint it this particular blue color she just had to have it! She came down yesterday and I surprised her by finishing it up and so she could see it all done before my Father in Law delivers it to Yuma in a few weeks.

Before
After

The blue was darker than I expected it to be but I really like the richness it brings to the piece. I did not apply the bonding agent to the paint for this one but it didn't chip one single bit. The exposed wood that you see I really had to sand down to find. My husband says he like this look the best and thinks the random chipping is "weird" but what does he know! Either way I just love this piece. I finished it with the clear furniture wax and the final product is smooth as butter. I just love the finishing touch the furniture wax provides.

After it was all painted blue I felt like it needed a little something else, so I took a small craft brush and some Ironstone and highlighted the beautiful details. This is another really old piece and is in such pristine condition. I know that Rachel will love it and be able to find good use out it for a lifetime. So here you have her my latest piece Beatrice. Enjoy!
